Inspired by Jonathan Adler

Whilst spending time in the Jonathan Adler online store today (drooling over the beautiful things) I came across  'show us your JA style' which was jammed packed with photos of inspiring interiors using Jonathan's amazing designs and interior bits and bobs. I thought it only fair that to share a few of my favourites with you ...

by Meg Fickling
A bright, happy, colorful and chic
vignette, inspired by The Parker Palm Springs Hotel, using JA's sculptural pieces.

by Scott McWilliams
I am in love with this clever and well thought out balance of symmetry with the unsymmetrical pieces.

by Tamara Robbins Griffith
Kitty Cat Chic! I love the balance and harmony created by the colours and shapes. Of course I think the touches of the yellow hue are just fabulous. What a fabulous entry!

Meow JA!

Carnevale Martha Style

This image took my eye whilst flipping through a pile of 'Martha' magazines that my friend, Ibu Suzi, passed onto me. I love the image, the tailoring of the clothes mixed with the outrageous carnevale bird masks accompanied by the lost in the forest background. My imagination is in a spin with the possibilities and dreams that this image portrays - such mystery, fun + games ...

The Perennial Pagoda

There is something about the Pagoda that gets my heart racing; perhaps because I currently reside in Asia, or is it my love of Asian history and maybe because I grew up listening to the many exotic tales from my Grandparents Asian travels. Or is it it's perennial symmetry or the fact it just always looks so elegant no matter what form it takes.

It’s religious and culture significance throughout Asia dates back as far as the 3rd century BC in India. In time the ‘Pagoda style’ spread throughout the rest of South East and Eastern Asia.

Construction was initially of wood and, as technology advanced Pagoda’s were soon built from brick then stone and later a combination of the two. Most pagodas were built to serve one religious purposes or another with the common religion being Buddhism.  It’s layering style with the very pointy finial on top, also housed many sacred relics and religious writings.

I can remember seeing my first pagoda in Pusan (now Busan), Korea, back in the mid 1990’s whilst travelling by sea throughout Asia. It was amazing and once inside the 360-degree view to the world outside was breath taking.

I marvel at the Pagoda’s architectural style, it’s symbolism and it’s many modern adaptations into furniture and décor pieces. Below are few ‘pagoda’ inspired interiors and décor images I found that have taken my breath away. Enjoy!

As you can see the possibilities with the modern take on the pagoda are simply endless ...

Click!

My dear friend Charmaine is a natural go getter, so it was no surprise to me that she when started to dabble in photography, the results were pure geniuses.  Charmaine is a constant inspiration to me. As her work is true beauty of the lens I thought it would be only fair to share a couple of her images with you all. Enjoy!

This is just a little tempter of her work for more beautiful images and to get in touch with Charmaine you can visit 'Charmme Photography' here.

Chic Living Space

photo courtesy of lynett perez from decor pad

I am in love with this interior!
The balance of the living area is pure chic, simple and elegant. The colours pop in a delightful balance. I love the soft green trimming on the sofa and chair in the foreground. The stunning sculptural piece on the wall pulls it all together.
Simply FABULOUS!

Couture Flowers

This stunning display of flowers (above) was on centre display in the lobby of the Mulia Hotel, Jakarta.  These Phalaenopsis orchids are one my all time favourites. Throughout the lobby and dining areas of the Mulia Hotel stunning flower displays were scattered and of course strategically placed.

My apologies for the poor quality on the last two photos, the hotel lighting and my iphone camera just don't mix, but I do hope you see the beauty that I do. Cheers!

Vignette Du Jour

The style combinations of this vignette I just love and it is truly inspiring me. I am not sure which I am in love with more; the perennial peonies, the retro sculpture, the darling drawer set, or the line drawing in the background. Perhaps it is each one which is why I love it!

Divine

Whilst surfing some fabulously chic interior online stores, I fell in love with this fabulous end table at Inside Avenue. All it needs now is a lovely bunch of peonies placed on top.

Happy Monday!

Photo courtesy of Elle Decor Magazine - December 2008.

These beautifully coloured Moroccan inspired plates simply brightened my day! So clean, fresh and vivid and filled with life. I can see a turkish delight or two nestled on the top of them, with a latte on the side.
Happy Monday to you all.

I'm Loving Jade!

Over the weekend I dined with friends at the newly renovated Mandarin Hotel, Jakarta. Xin Hwa was the restaurant of choice and menu was dim sum - which was incredibly delicious with every ounce cooked to pure perfection.
A perennial space, with a modern asian feel, soothing dimmed lighting, dark colours mixed my favourite colour - jade green!

I love the carpet -based on the chinese cloud symbol which is soft and flowing and used in many ways throughout Asia.

The serving plates are simply to die for - loving the colours and the geometric style .... of course I have ordered them!
